- Description
- Role details
Project management lead position for a freelance role at Adesso, an energy company located in Nexus near the Dutch border. The role involves managing SAP PPM (Portfolio and Project Management) module implementation, which is a modular system requiring specialized training and knowledge. Responsibilities span from ideas and business case development through project execution to realization, encompassing the full lifecycle of project management. The position includes financial governance oversight with real financial impact, and requires tracking projects to ensure they stay within budget constraints. The candidate will manage someone who handles project planning aspects, so hands-on involvement with those specific functions is not required. The project is expected to run for more than six months, with an ultimate delivery deadline before January 29th, though an earlier completion is preferred. The role is part of a broader SAP pipeline being built up by the organization, with plans to recruit additional SAP professionals both outside and inside the Netherlands.
Role requirements
Minimum five years of proven experience with SAP PPM, specifically in portfolio and project management and project systems, with demonstrated expertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously. Dutch language proficiency is required, with native-level fluency preferred, though non-native speakers can be discussed on a case-by-case basis if they meet other qualifications. SAP FICO knowledge is listed as a plus and would strengthen a candidate's profile. The candidate should have experience managing projects with financial governance implications and maintaining budget oversight, demonstrating the ability to keep projects on track financially and prevent budget overruns. Background in the energy industry is ideal, as it provides relevant context for the types of projects being managed. Experience with S/4 HANA systems is advantageous, particularly involvement in R&D or governmental industry projects with big capex programs and PMO-driven approaches. The role does not require hands-on involvement with production planning functions, as the candidate will manage someone responsible for those aspects.
Interview process
Initial screening interviews conducted by Fabrice last approximately 20 minutes. Candidates who perform well in the initial screening are sent to the company (RWE) for further evaluation and assessment. Following the company interview, candidates proceed to interviews with two additional team members who are currently involved in the process. Fabrice aims to complete the entire interview process by Friday to enable contract preparation and move forward efficiently. Contracts will be prepared by the recruiting team (Spencer and Victoria) and sent to the candidate's umbrella company representative (Max S) for signature. Once signed by the candidate's representative, the contracts are returned to the recruiters for final processing. Fabrice's managing director must then sign off on the contracts to ensure proper authorization and two-way agreement before the engagement can proceed.

Other details
Work arrangement is hybrid, with the company already having remote workers on this project. Specific on-site requirements have not been finalized, though Fabrice suggests candidates may need to be in the office once a week, two to three days, or similar arrangements to maintain team connection and collaboration. Location flexibility exists; candidates from Belgium or other nearby regions with Dutch language proficiency are acceptable, as proximity to the Nexus location near the Dutch border is not strictly required. The client is RWE, a German energy company that is part of a larger corporate structure. The role is being filled through Eurobase as a freelance position, with the recruiting team able to work on both freelance and permanent placements depending on client needs. Spencer and Victoria specialize in SAP recruiting but work with a broader team capable of supporting various technical and consulting needs including DevOps within Germany and nearshore regions, Databricks, Snowflake, machine learning expertise, and e-commerce solutions. The recruiters emphasize a commitment to being honest about capability limitations and referring clients to other specialists when necessary rather than wasting time on areas outside their expertise.
