- Background:
The client’s global strategic plan for 2022 - 2025 includes Digital Transformation as a strategic enabler for the organisation and a key element in expanding the reach of their assistance towards the2030 ambition. To do so, the client is increasingly adopting digital solutions to drive internal efficiencies as well as provide digital services to the people it serves.
Key to all this will be the client’s ability to secure systems, applications and the data these will process, to ensure privacy, confidentiality and avoid causing digital harm.
The client develops many applications ranging from static websites to complex systems that process extremely sensitive data. Many of these applications are required to communicate with each other and some external systems. Applications used by staff in the field need to be highly available and able to function in low bandwidth environments.
The client is now looking for a DevOps Engineer to standardise and manage these applications within their Azure environment. This will involve deployment, tooling, and processes for teams working with digital technologies.
Role and responsibilities:
Our current DevOps strategy primarily involves hosting applications on Microsoft Azure and using Terraform for IAC. The DevOps Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all applications within the company are hosted securely and reliably.
Generic responsibilities:
• Contribute to the design, delivery, and rollout of digital systems and actively participate in shaping solutions and setting up plans.
• Produce periodic documentation to share progress and learning.
• Ensure compliance and adherence to the client's policies and procedures, especially in relation to information security and data protection standards.
• Actively participate as a team member in promoting and embodying a highly collaborative, dynamic work culture.
Specific responsibilities:
• Deploying internal and third-party applications to Azure
• Working with development teams to ensure DevOps best practices are followed
• Setting standards for DevOps
• Configuring and maintaining application monitoring tools
• Building deployment automations to aid development team’s workflows
• Automate deployment and management of infrastructure using Azure DevOps and other CI/CD tools
• Managing our platform's quality, stability, security, and automatization Critical interfaces (for example; CIO, ICT support and operations teams, etc.)
Professional competencies:
Generic professional competencies:
• 5 years of previous work experience in DevOps
• Design and implement deployment tooling
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Experience/knowledge in building secure systems
• Experience with agile software development methodologies
• The ability to work autonomously
• Degree in Computer Science, or a related field
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
Specific professional competencies:
• Strong experience with Azure cloud infrastructure, including Azure DevOps and Terraform
• Experience with monitoring and log analysis tools
• Proficiency in writing scripts and automation
• Experience with relational databases, such as Postgres
• Understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker
• Experience with designing CI/CD pipelines with development teams
• The ability to find solutions for hosting applications in a multitude of environments (regarding laws, securityrequirements, network conditions, etc.)
